The Call That Changed My Weekend
Last October, three days before our school's annual Art Fair, my phone rang. It was the principal. The local print shop had a machine breakdown. Our order of 2,000 Crayola-themed bookmarks and stickers was not going to arrive in time.

I grabbed a volume calculator—the kind you'd normally use for concrete or paint—and estimated the area: 2,000 bookmarks = 2,000 × 20 sq in = 40,000 sq in, plus stickers. Roughly 280 sq ft of film. That's two rolls. Simple math. Saved me from buying too little.
What I hadn't accounted for: the film shrinks slightly during heating. I lost about 5% to waste. A rookie mistake. But we had extras.
The 36-Hour Sprint
I printed in batches overnight. The printer was loud. My living room smelled like melted powder. By Friday morning, I had all sheets ready. Then came the pressing: heat press at 320°F, 15 seconds per sheet. I burned my finger twice. Worth it.
